Thanks for creating this Afara!
Here's where things are headed with the Savannah. All feedback, comments, criticism, and suggestions are welcome.
- Changing all instances of Savanna to Savannah - Fixing all spelling/grammar errors. - Adding extra descriptions to rooms near landmarks, like rivers, trees, forests, cliffs. Just to change things up a bit. - Adding in about 10-15 room descriptions specific to the general Savannah area, which will alternate through the zone.
Potential ideas:
- Adding in a larger Baboon boss on the cliffs that will have guards. Ideally he would call a couple other baboons to him if attacked, similar to the goblin area. If there is a code snippet of that script that I could look at that would be perfect! - Adding some sort of quest that starts at Druid Amas. Thinking it will likely be a combination collection/killing quest, with clues hidden around the entire zone. Still working on the details.
Questions:
- What was the crack in the far east side of the cliffs supposed to be used for? Any plans yet? Could potentially place a small cavern area there, maybe with some sort of hominid creature that feeds off of the baboons. - Is there a general guideline for creating boss NPCs and/or Rare Spawn NPCs? Are they the same thing or different?

No problem. Good idea! I think you are doing really great and have a perfect goal for the Savannah. The descriptions should be changed from "You are standing..." to be more inline with the rest of the world. Please skim through domdaria.gamepedia.com/Building_guidelines (we should really make a shorter version of the guidelines) and try to look at other zones like Toldara, The Swamp (Zaimus last zone). Potential ideas: - Baboon boss sounds great, maybe include him in a quest or something. I have added the Goblin King script example here: domdaria.gamepedia.com/Scripting#Spawn_additional_enemies_at_50.25_health. - Sounds good Questions: - The crack and the possibility to walk upon the cliffs was added recently by a guy that leveled 3-4 characters to level 40ish then editor the Savannah briefly and then disappeared. I think his idea was that it should be an entrance to a dungeon that he never finished. Remove it until we have something behind it. - I think of rare spawns as "special treats" that you sometimes stumble over or that some stubborn players may try to camp. Though they should spawn "rarely" (everything from 25% to 0.00001% of the time the spawn is reloaded) and also rarely be part of a quest line, at least not a normal quest. We do not want to require people to camp rare NPCs to finish a common quest. - I think of bosses as more common creatures that are harder and only one of a kind. Many times they are a part of a quest line, but not have to be. Thoughts about the Savannah: - I think I need to better visualize the possibility to walk up the cliff in the map, and also where on the cliff one can walk. What do you think?

Thanks for the script. Looks pretty straightforward.
For the cliff walk, I wonder if the map could be slightly changed to not show the section dropping down. Then, instead of having the player move North, they would have to read the room descriptions and find a room that talks of handholds, then 'climb cliff' or something similar. If that makes sense?

We could add a room object that is a "cliff" which you can right click and press climb on than having a script moving one onto the cliff. Or just an exit that is named cliff and which prevents vision, or just modify the north exit to not show vision.

Sounds great!
The only thing I would ask is to blend the "thief" NPCs with the Plains Bandits, if you haven't already thought of that.
Good job!

Not sure what you mean. There are no thief NPCs in the Savannah right now, did you mean you were thinking of adding some?

I'm looking at the Savanna on the player port. There is an NPC level 26 "a Thief". Thinking they were meant to be related to the NPCs in the cave south of where they like to hang out on the savanna map. Maybe Afara skipped that one's access to you?

Ahh, yeah perhaps. I only have access to the main Savannah map. None of the caves attached. I can maybe move onto those after I am done with this.

I already did the two caves in the Savannah; the thief NPC is one which spawns in the savannah. Heh

Hm. Yeah I don't see it on the list of NPCs I have access to.

Completed the houses, the trees, 50% of the road, most of the Cliff, all of the rooms that border the River and about 50% of the more generic Savannah descriptions.
Still need to rework the Cliff descriptions, the road descriptions for the main road that runs through the area (the northeast road that runs to the houses is completed), and finish off the more generic Savannah rooms. Then I get to do the fun stuff!

I've had to out all fun on the backburner this week. My boss went to Hawaii and surprised me with the news that I would be replacing all of our company's workstations while he is away, on a new server. By myself. It's been fun....haha. Anyways, I'm participating in a speedskating meet today all day and then will finally have some time to work on this again and check out the new area as well.

Hehe ok. You are welcome when you can! Cool with speedskating, do you compete in it? I go ice-skating just for fun at times.

Competed in my first meet today. Was a lot of fun but I am not great at it. My son does it as well.
