** this posting is in progress
Currently there are a dozen effects which a character can be inflicted with. There is only one type of poison at the moment, 'frog poison'. This thread is to propose new types of poison.
Frog Poison - damages a little over time.
One way to create some common damage-only poisons, would be to denote the severity of damage. Such a system could be: Weak Poisoning, Mild Poisoning, Strong Poisoning, Deadly Poisoning. the ranks in between would give a good buffer to make specific instances of the poison more or less strong.
As a builder I would like a generic system such as the above. For example, if I was making a stinging ant, but didn't feel like "ant poison" was a necessary addition to content, it would be so convenient to have "weak poison".
Hell, for ultra simplicity we could just have Poison, and give it several ranks, which would be just as good for generic damaging poison.

It may just be my opinion, but poisons which have special characteristics tend to be worthy of an individualized name. These notorious afflictions would then easily be incorporated into the player's world. Here are some ideas for such types of poison:
Oops. Forgot my ideas. Basically poisons which cause specific symptoms such as burning sensations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, paralysis, weakness, muteness, etc.. Along with the potential damage points, these may force your character to emote "vomit" for example. These types of effects if implemented into the code, could also be turned into non-poison induced afflictions, for example simply a "nausea" affect.
I will tidy this post up later, hopefully when the specific ideas for the poisons come back.
