While going through filling out NPCs in the Toldara update an issue has been pressing me, and requires input before I proceed organizing and editing some older items. Is there an ideal progression of material types in equipment? For example, is steel meant to be the starting material for early levels? (Feels a little strange since steel is quite a technologically advanced metal, and seemingly lesser quality daggers are higher level occasionally. (This happens for plenty of other weapon types.))
There seems to be some 'graded' system of adjectives to give some feeling of progression. "a steel dagger (level 3), a fine steel dagger (level 6) and "a grand steel dagger" (level 9) not sure who started that, but I wonder if such a generic naming scheme should be reserved for crafted items.
Is there a list of ore / metals that exist in Domdaria with notes for builders somewhere? There are a number of unnamed metals in the item icon database. With the expanding item database, it could be useful to have such a list. At the moment, it seems to make sense to change the low level steel items into a lesser metal such as copper. Maybe tin should be the most early type of metal?
Also, knowledge of any special places which have higher frequencies of certain metals, would allow for a richer world. An example could be if caves around Bargof were the only place to mine mithril -- it would make Toldara have to struggle to get it, (maybe there are raids to get it, or diplomatic / secret deals,) issues of lore which tie directly into the game experience. It feels like resources may be the missing piece of the puzzle as to how Toldara and Bargof became such bitter enemies: what do you think?
